My last yoga event was so much fun that I had to do it again. This time, however, I wanted to switch it up and try something new. I saw buti yoga on TV earlier this year, and though I didn’t know the name of what exactly was being done, with some searching I finally figured out what this sassy primal yoga was called.
Then my studio search began. I found it at Tuck Barre and Yoga in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia, and Megan Tahan was the instructor. Immediately after I took the class, I approached Megan and told her that we had host an event together. So we planned it, and we wanted to have it at my marina. Hurricanes Harvey and Irma hit during our planning, so we decided to raise money through our event.
Buti yoga is a blend of traditional vinyasa with tribal dance and kundalini. What I loved about the class I took at Tuck was that I left feeling energized, sassy, free, and extremely confident. And though buti yoga is not lascivious, I did feel a little more aware of my femininity and sex appeal. I wanted so badly to share that with other women.
If even possible, this buti yoga class at the marina was even more empowering and moving than the first. Maybe it was because all of the ladies (and one man) uniting to support a good cause, or maybe it was the amazing view. Either way, Megan’s laid-back and fun teaching style was the icing on the cake.
I’m extremely grateful to Megan and to Tuck for lending her to me, and to everyone who donated and attended. Every dollar helped. A special thank you to Core for the Hydration and Organics products, and to our photographer Dan Barends. *Dan’s Instagram *
