As a boater, one of my favorite things to do is take the boat out for some lunch. My go-to spot? Morgan’s Pier on Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. Located right beside the Ben Franklin Bridge, Morgan’s Pier is a laid-back outdoor restaurant with an awesome view of the Philadelphia Marine Center. I’ve been visiting this place at least once a month since 2012, and I finally got to visit for the first time this season last week.
The restaurant has gone through a few chefs, but I think they finally got the menu right. My faves? As I’ve already stated, I love a good lobster roll. I paired it on my last visit with an elderflower fizz (did I mention I’m a huge fan of elderflower beverages/liquor?). Out of fear of being buzzed while out with my mother, I stuck to one. If this drink had a potent amount of alcohol, it would be pretty easy to get wasted on these. The tiny glass was edible, sweet gold.[adToAppearHere]
A few other honorable mentions on the menu:
- The veggie hot dogs and sausages-My vegetarian loves them from the cart, topped with their beer mustard
- Pork belly lettuce wraps (remember my love of pork belly?)
- The BBQ chicken wings
The one thing I miss about Morgan’s Pier in the past is the Little Baby’s Ice Cream cart. I’m a huge fan, and it was here that I was introduced to the Earl Grey sriracha and peanut butter tarragon flavors.
Otherwise, this place is a great after work spot, or a place to watch a game or have a drink with friends. It is also family friendly during the day.
